What to do in Barcelona in July

The first thing to say is that it’s literally impossible to be bored in central Barcelona in July.

You can start your holiday or weekend break in Barcelona by strolling along Las Ramblas, visiting the Sagrada Família and other Catalan modernist classics such as Casa Batlló or La Pedrera. Then, lose yourself in the winding streets of El Born, head up to Montjuïc for one of the best views of the city, or wander through the charming Gràcia district.

And if the heat is on, nothing beats a morning at the beach in Barceloneta, Bogatell, or Nova Icaria – the choice is yours! If you prefer shade and greenery, parks like the Parc de la Ciutadella or the Jardins de Laribal are perfect for a stroll and a bit of peace in the heart of the city.

What’s more, July is packed with cultural events and local festivals, so between plans you’re sure to stumble across a pop-up stage in the street, a food fair, a vintage market or a neighbourhood party that will have you changing your plans in no time.

The line-up is packed with big names, including Benjamin Clementine, Future Islands, Ezra Collective, The Lemon Twigs, and Joe Goddard.

ViJazz 2025

If you prefer something a bit more laid-back, from 4 to 6 July ViJazz 2025 invites you to pair wine and jazz near Barcelona, with concerts from the Marta Duran Quartet, Vincen Garcia, Swing Shot Band, and many more.

Raval and Poble-sec Festivals: pure culture, music, and neighbourhood spirit

If you’re looking for things to do in Barcelona in July, there are two local festivals you simply can’t miss if you want to experience the city’s most authentic, festive, and friendly side: the Festa Major del Raval and the Festa Major de Poble-sec.

Both are the soul of their neighbourhoods for several days and the perfect excuse to mingle with locals, discover their traditions, sample great food, and enjoy the city just like a true Barcelonès.

Both festivals feature beloved Catalan traditions such as correfocs (fire runs), castellers (human towers), gegants (giant puppets), and habaneras (traditional songs). And the best part is, you don’t need to plan much – just wander and go with the flow.

Festa Major del Raval – the weekend of 16 July

This diverse and characterful neighbourhood shows off its most joyful and open spirit with its Festa Major.

What can you expect? Outdoor stages, free concerts, dance performances, batucadas (drumming parades), brass bands, children’s workshops, parades, and a host of activities organised by local associations.

There are also plenty of food stalls where you can try everything from traditional tapas to dishes from around the world.

Festa Major de Poble-sec – second half of July

A few days later (depending on the year), Poble-sec also celebrates its Festa Major, and if you’re in the city, you must stop by.

The streets are decked out with bunting, the squares turn into impromptu stages, and there are concerts, traditional dances, open-air theatre and cinema. But the best part is the involvement of the neighbourhood: in Plaça del Sortidor there are activities all day long, and in streets like Blai the atmosphere is incredible at night, with music, tapas, and good vibes.

The weather in Barcelona in July will surprise you

July in Barcelona is hot, yes, but very enjoyable. Temperatures usually range from 25 to 32°C during the day, with warm evenings perfect for dinner or a snack outdoors.

Typically, there are only two rainy days throughout the month, and visibility is excellent, with barely a cloud in the sky. This great weather makes July the ideal month for outdoor activities: from hiring a bike and riding along the seafront to kayaking or paddle surfing at the city beaches. You can also join a sunset sailing tour, head up to Tibidabo, or take a modernist route around the city.

Why is Barcelona the perfect place to visit in July?

In July, Barcelona is more alive than ever: culture, music, gastronomy, sea, mountains, and a non-stop calendar of events.

It’s that time of year when you can make the most of every day because the weather is on your side, there’s no shortage of things to do, and the holiday spirit is everywhere.

And after all that excitement, you’ll need to rest: in Barcelona, the accommodation is as worthwhile as the city itself. If you don’t believe us, have a look at all the apartments, studios, and houses we have at Key Barcelona so you can enjoy your getaway to the fullest.
